Thinking Pink or, "Pinking," or, "I've Been Pinked!"

I grew up as a girl with auburn hair.  In my world, red-haired girls did not wear red, pink, orange, or yellow.  We looked best in green which has long been my favorite color.

In 1967 Bill and I married.  Before the big day, Bill went on his own to Joske's Department Store to buy a king-sized bed for our new home.  (Bill is six feet four inches tall.)  I had envisioned having custom made bedding in shades of gold and avocado green...a popular color combination in those days.  Sadly, that vision never came to pass.

I was enjoying a wedding shower given for us whilst Bill went to purchase the bed.  Later on he called me to tell me about his shopping.  He was so pleased to mention that he had also purchased a bedspread for us...a PINK bed spread.  I was horrified; however, all I said was a meek, "Why did you get pink?"  His response was, "I thought all girls like pink."  Well, I did not disabuse him of his pink thinking; so, for years we had a pink bedroom.  Ugh!

Above is a photo of baby Kimberly having a nap in our pink bed.

I am not sure when it happened, but, sometime along the way pink has crept into my mind as a favorite color.  As I say, I have no idea how or when this happened.

So now, green and pink have become my top two favorite colors.  And they, together, make a  wonderful color combination. Below are a few images found on the Internet illustrating those shades together.  (If one of these is your intellectual property, I will be glad to give you the proper credit if you give me your information.)

These images just make me smile!

I am in love!

What coud be better?  A pretty pink tea set and lime green macarons!

I have  had a Pinterest board entitled "Things That are Green" for a few years.  Occasionally, I visit that board just to revel in the beauty of green.  Recently I added a board called "Think Pink."  Here are a few images from that Pinterest board.

Oh, so many pink things.

A collage of pretty pink things.

Quartz crystals!

Is this a teapot or tea kettle?

A pink mouse?  Really cute, but I don't use a mouse...but, really cute.

I have found many more pink things to admire...a pink Corvette and a pink VW Bug, pink handbags (of course!), tons of pink flowers and pink dishes, and a pink KitchenAid mixer.  Also, I would not object if Bill wanted to gift me with a very large pink diamond ring.

I am really loving all things pink now, and, if you have read through these ramblings, I think you too have been PINKED!
